Back in the day, the prevailing thought process after sustaining a head injury during a sporting event was to “shake it off and get back in the game.” Thankfully, this mindset has changed considerably in recent years, with awareness of concussion symptoms and the effects of head injuries becoming far more prominent.
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association estimated as many as 20% of children will be diagnosed with a concussion during their childhood years. The feature story of the Summer 2018 issue of
