VPI Pet Insurance officially changes name

Please note that the NYSUT Member Benefits Corporation-endorsed VPI Pet Insurance program is now officially known as the Pet Insurance program from Nationwide.

Member Benefits is in the process of updating all of its electronic & print materials to reflect this change. This website has already been updated to reflect this change.

Additional Updates
1. There have also been a few updates to some of the plans offered by Nationwide. The Major Medical Plan (which is Nationwide's most popular plan and reimburses about 90% of a policyholder's bill) no longer has an annual maximum of $14,000 in benefits. There is now NO maximum amount of benefits per year. Instead, Nationwide offers a helpful guide available on its website or as a PDF covering the top 50 conditions for dogs & the top 50 conditions for cats along with a benefit amount covered for each condition.

For example, a policyholder would be covered up to $1,560 per year through the Major Medical Plan if their dog was diagnosed with skin cancer. Or, a policyholder would be covered up to $1,230 per year through the Major Medical Plan if their cat was diagnosed with lymph node cancer.

2. Nationwide has also added two new Pet Wellness plans that cover preventive procedures such as routine exams, vaccinations and blood work.

3. The Pet Insurance from Nationwide website has also added an option to compare the pet insurance programs of competitors.
