Delta Dental -- the provider of the NYSUT Member Benefits Trust-endorsed
Group Dental Plan -- is bringing its Dental Wellness & Education Initiative to elementary schools throughout the state.
Developed by Delta Dental in 2012 to promote dental health education to elementary school students, this initiative has benefitted more than 30,000 students in nearly 30 school districts across the country to date.
The Dental Wellness & Education Initiative features Ratoncito Perez (the Hispanic counterpart to the Tooth Fairy), who teaches children about the importance of proper dental hygiene and preventive care through a variety of interactive activities. The presentation has been adapted as an educational video, and DVDs are available at no cost to schools; participating schools also receive bilingual coloring books and children's toothbrushes.
